Changelog
Where to find Appstrate release notes, how versions are numbered, and the milestones that changed the product the most.
The release notes are not copied into this site, so they cannot drift. Two places are authoritative:
- GitHub releases: one entry per tag, with the notes of that version.
CHANGELOG.mdin the repository: the full history in Keep a Changelog format, including anUnreleasedsection for what has landed onmainsince the last tag.
Read this before upgrading
Appstrate is in beta (1.0.0-beta.N), and a release can change the wire contract, the database schema, or the operator's environment on purpose. Each version in CHANGELOG.md can carry these sections:
| Section | What it tells you |
|---|---|
Operators | Steps to run before or after the deploy: maintenance windows, one-off migration scripts, environment variables that changed, images that must move together |
Added, Changed, Removed, Fixed | What changed for users and API clients |
BREAKING entries | A change that breaks existing integrations, with the migration |
Read every version between yours and your target, not only the last one. The upgrade procedure is in Upgrading. Two rules worth knowing up front: the platform image, appstrate-pi, and appstrate-sidecar are one version contract and must be deployed at the same version, and migrations are applied at boot with no down migration, so take a database dump first.
Versioning
| What | Scheme | Where it is published |
|---|---|---|
| The platform (API, dashboard, runtime images) | v1.0.0-beta.N git tags | GitHub releases, GHCR images |
The appstrate CLI | [email protected] tags, numbered in the same sequence as the platform | GitHub releases, npm (appstrate) |
@appstrate/core | [email protected] | npm |
@appstrate/afps-shared | [email protected] | npm |
| The HTTP API | Date version in the Appstrate-Version header, currently 2026-03-21 | API Reference |
The API date version is separate from the platform version and has not moved yet.
Milestones
A selection of changes that altered how you use Appstrate. Each is a git tag. CHANGELOG.md has sections from 1.0.0-beta.52 onward, so for earlier tags read the GitHub release.
| Version | Date | Change |
|---|---|---|
v1.0.0-beta.17 | 2026-06-04 | AFPS 2.0 and the move from providers to integrations: MCP-backed packages that declare their authentication and tools |
v1.0.0-beta.26 | 2026-06-08 | The MCP module: the platform API exposed to MCP clients, one endpoint per organization |
v1.0.0-beta.34 | 2026-07-03 | The hosted Connect portal for integrations, and the chat module |
v1.0.0-beta.36 | 2026-07-06 | The Firecracker run backend: one microVM per run, behind a KVM boundary |
v1.0.0-beta.54 | 2026-08-28 | Applications became spaces: spc_ ids, X-Space-Id, /api/spaces |
v1.0.0-beta.62 | 2026-09-25 | API keys use the checksummed apst_ format. Older ask_ keys stop working |
v1.0.0-beta.64 | 2026-09-30 | An agent can use several connections of one integration in a single run |
v1.0.0-beta.65 | 2026-10-07 | A signed live model catalog, appstrate api with an API key, and a long list of operator pre-flights |
Version 1.0.0-beta.65 has an Operators section with a new environment variable (MODEL_CATALOG_URL), pre-flight scripts and SQL checks to run before the deploy, and behavior changes that need an action. Read it in CHANGELOG.md before you upgrade from an earlier version.
Upgrading
For self-hosted instances, follow Upgrading. For breaking API changes, check the Operators and BREAKING entries of each release between your version and the target.
